Charter for Compassion launches today

The long-awaited Charter for Compassion will be officially unveiled today at 9:30am EST at the National Press Club in Washington DC.



To celebrate the launch 123 international partner organisations have created 175 events in 32 countries, on every populated continent.



This global movement has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to fulfil TED-prize winner Karen Armstrong’s wish of repositioning compassion at the heart of people’s lives and communities.

Times article: Gandhi and the other 9/11

The Times has featured an article by global tolerance’s managing director Simon Cohen on ‘Gandhi and the other 9/11′. The article celebrates Gandhi’s 140th birthday by delving into the revolutionists’ empowering Satyagraha movement.



Simon recalls a prominent point in the birth of Gandhi’s non-violent movement, which he notes was initially sparked by a Muslim merchant, something that adds a special resonance to the date of its birth, September 11th.
