This fictional serial made a breaking point in public opinion and common feelings in Germany concerning a German guilt in WWII. It was one of the most influential TV series of all time, from the perspective of what social changes were caused by it. The same kind of (even global) difference, just in an other field, were caused by Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage, just 5 years before Holocaust. Coincidence? Or World was ready for big changes...
